How You Can Get Involved
Energy Conservation
Energy — how we use it, where it comes from, how can we get more of it, and ultimately what happens if we run out are issues that seem to consume the news and politics. While we can’t practically avoid consuming energy, we as a society can better manage how we use it. VFT feels very strongly about this issue and how the approach to finding more efficient solutions will affect our daily lives. It also believes as strongly in the power of the individual to make seismic shifts in society. There are many things we can do around our living quarters to help in the cause of conserving energy. And to help have a more educated consumer, VFT is working with projectOUTREACH to offer online activities and curriculum to help you understand how we use energy, and what can be done to improve our use of it. With the Eureka Energy Challenge, VFT created a contest and awarded an energy-efficient home makeover to a deserving family. Energy conservation and helping to educate consumers on how to solve this crisis is a passion and goal of this campaign. Join us.
projectOUTREACH
“What if…? We all ask "What if?" questions — especially when we take time to look back on our lives and how they are progressing. They help us understand who we are, where we come from, and where we are going next. Through its partnership with Visions for Tomorrow, projectOUTREACH encourages you to go to the forum and pose your most pressing “what if?” question around energy use. Might you prompt an answer that ultimately alters how our society uses and conserves energy? projectOUTREACH has also created a community service curriculum for our campaign, including 12 activities and a complete projectOUTREACH Team Challenge. In addition to the curriculum, the Energy Counts activity prompts you to conduct an inventory of your electrical energy outlets and allow you to compare your inventory with others. How can you improve your energy use? And how will your actions affect others?
ENERGY EFFICIENCY CHALLENGE
As an integral part of the Visions for Tomorrow campaign, the Syfy Channel teamed up with the Alliance to Save Energy and the Edison Electric Institute, to create an innovative energy-efficiency challenge that encourages people everywhere to upgrade the energy efficiency features in their home.
